World Soil Day 2022

It’s #worldsoilday and we’re celebrating with Soil Association and their “Soil: It’s so much more than dirt” campaign. Soils are an important environmental asset which provide a variety of uses far beyond the growing of plants. We are losing soil at a greater rate than it is formed, alarmingly between 10 and 40 times faster. Every year an area of fertile soil 3 times the size of Switzerland (12 million hectares) is lost globally. The majority of global farmland could be unsuitable for growing crops by 2050 and with the global population expected to reach nine billion in the next few decades, it is imperative that we maintain good soil health.
